Nepal holds many surprises for the tourists. The scenic beauty, ancient temples, brimming flora and fauna and crystal clear lake water, everything is so perfect about the place. It would be rather unfair, not mentioning the mammoth Himalayas, which have adorned Nepal since time immemorial.

So much is the charm of the country that this country homes ten World Heritage Sights, out of which seven are located within the radius of 20 kilometers.

Religion is a very important aspect of the daily lives of the people of Nepal. Religion rules their heart and soul of the people. So much so that Nepal is the only country that has living goddesses 'Kumari'. Shamanism, Pan-animism & Witch-craft is still practiced in the remote regions of Nepal. It has innumerable temples, some of which are centuries old.

Major destinations in Nepal:

Kathmandu:
Not only is Kathmandu the capital of Nepal, it is also the largest city of Nepal. The city was built by Gun Kamdev in 723 A.D. Kathmandu is a valley surrounded by mountains on all sides.
Kathmandu is famous world wide for its scenic beauty, ancient temples and rich cultural inheritance. Kathmandu is located with the backdrop of majestic Himalayas. Thus Kathmandu is loved by all the famous trekkers and hikers of the world.
Kathmandu Durbar Square is the most famous destination of Kathmandu. This place is also known as Hanuman Dhoka. Built in between the 12th and 18th century B.C., the place hosts uncountable temples, courtyards and palaces. The astounding pieces of architecture at the Durbar Square reflect traditional and cultural glory of the place. The inscription written on the walls of the temple are in 15 different languages. The Durbar also has 3 museums, Taleju Temple, the Gaddi Baithak, the statue of King Pratap Malla, the big bell, big drum and the Jagannath Temple.

Swyambhunath Stupa, or commonly known as monkey temple, is another fascinating place in Kathmandu. Situated over a beautiful hill top, the place was built around 250 B.C. The holy site basically reflects the Buddhist form of architecture.

Pashupatinath Temple is one of the holiest shrines of the Hindus. Located on the Baghmati River, this temple forms one of the best examples of Nepalese architecture.

Budhanilkantha Temple reflects expertise of architecture at its zenith. The temple consists of a holy pond, where a beautifully designed structure of Lord Vishnu is shown, reclining on the coils of a serpent.

Boudha Nath Stupa is one of the oldest and biggest monuments ever built in Nepal related to Buddhism. The Stupa has been said to be built in 5th century A.D. This place holds ardent religious significance to Buddhists.

Changu Narayan Temple is also a World Heritage Site. The temple reflects pagoda kind of architecture. Most of the carvings at the temple are done in woods.
Freak Street had in the past attracted many western hippies, but currently, the place has some exotic restaurants and hotels.
Garden of Dreams is a place where you can relax yourself enjoying the lush green grass and aromatic flowers.

Lumbini: Lumbini is the birth place of Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. The place holds a pillar built by Magadhan Emperor, Ashoka, to reflect the birth place of Lord Buddha. The most amazing aspect of the pillar is that it was built 2200 years ago. This monument is one of the oldest monuments of Nepal. Lumbini is the perfect place for those who are seeking to rejuvenate their souls with some aspect of spirituality.

Bhaktapur: Bhaktapur means city of devotees. The city has numerous temples and shrines, making it a perfect religious destination. In this city Durbar square is the place of utmost religious significance, as this place holds some major temples. The temples at the square are tastefully designed, depicting religion in every detail.

Lalitpur: The city of Lalitpur displays some finest temples and sculptures. Not only does the city embrace some well designed temples, but also The Central Zoo. Central Zoo is the favorite destination for all animal lovers. The zoo has around 106 species of birds and 665 different animals. The place also has a marvelous Royal Botanical Garden lying at the foothills of Phulchowki.

Chitwan: One of the most easily accessible places n Nepal, Chitwan holds a beautiful National Park, probably the most amazing National Park in Nepal. In midst of the exotic terrains one can view some rare animals like Bengal Royal Tiger, one horned Rhinos and elephants. A river named Rapti River also cuts along the Park.
