The Land of Moon God, Khajuraho is a quite place with just 3000 residents. But what is it famous for is 9th to 12th century temples with eminent architecture. Built during the time of Chandela Dynasty, all the 85 temples were built in Naggar style temples. However out of these only 20 are left.

The temples at the Khajuraho are different as compared to the other temples in India. They are neither deity temples nor places of worship. In fact the temple at the Khajuraho depicts eroticism through sculptures etched on the wall.

The Khajuraho group of temples has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage.

The Khajuraho temples do not contain sexual art forms inside the temple or near the deities: it’s the external carvings which bear the erotic art. Some of the temples have two layer walls of which the erotic carvings form part of the outside of the inner walls.

This place is visited by thousands of people every year, making it one of the major tourist attractions of India.
