One of the major cities in India, the city of Jammu borders Kashmir and lies north to Ladhak and to the east of Himachal Pradesh. The city was founded by Raja Jamboolochan in 14th century BC. The king decided to make Jammu a town when he saw a tiger and a goat drinking water from the same pond.
The city of Jammu has various places of interest as it is one of the major tourist destinations. Amarnath, Vaishno Devi Shrine, Nanadanin Wildlife sanctuary, Mansar Lake, Bahu Fort, Raghu Nath Temple, Peer Kho Cave and Dargah of Ali Shah are the major destinations in and around Jammu.
There are various festivals held in Jammu through out the season, which can easily add more fun to your trip. Baisakhi, Bahu Mela, Navratri mela are some Major festivals brightening up the town every year.
Thus Jammu can rightly be called the city of ancient temples. Its ancient culture can be seen in terms of its temples and fairs, which has formed the major part of the life of the city.
